Prayer Life

Jude 20 says, “But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith, by praying in the Holy Spirit.”
Charles Spurgeon, “prayer is an art which only the Holy Spirit can teach us. He is the giver of all prayer.” We are ordinary human but when we live prayer life, we become the extraordinary person with supernatural power. The power of Holy Spirit, protection of the Almighty and the work in our life which is beyond our imagination. We need to believe this and should live prayer life.

Let’s see some of the human’s life who got prayer life from Old Testament.
Elijah was also an ordinary person.Sinful nature was also in Elijah.  He became many times, sad, anxious and exhausted even to death. There was no one to encourage neither his mom or dad nor his siblings. He was lonely, hatred one. He only gets success in prophecy. He counted as a great man because of his prayer life. In James 5: 17-18, “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.”
Daniel was a man of prayer. Even his enemies were well known about his prayer life. How many people know your prayer life? In Daniel 6:10, “When Daniel learned that the written document had been signed, he went to an upstairs room in his house that had windows opened facing Jerusalem. Three times a day he would kneel down, pray, and give thanks to his God, just as he had previously done.”

Although, it was against law to pray; he prayed. He was miraculously saved from the lion’s den. He brought change in the kingdom of king Darius. Whole nation should worship the God of Daniel, decree was given (Daniel 6:24-27). It was his prayer life.

In New Testament,
Jesus Christ when He was in flesh in this earth. We know He was also a man of prayer. He was in human flesh like one of us. He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Bible says in Matthew 26:38, Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”
He was so deeply distressed, even to death. What did Jesus do in such stressful circumstances? He prayed, Matthew 26:39. He was like one of us in flesh, ordinary person but different, He was a man of prayer.

Peter and Paul was most powerful man because of their prayer life.
First, about Peter,
Let’s talk about Peter’s miraculous escape from prison. In Acts 12:5-19, verse 5, “Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.”
Peter was freed from prison. It was very miraculous. And there was prayer offered by church for him to almighty God.
Now, let’s see about Paul also. He was a very strong person. Many times, he faced such affliction which was beyond human bearable. All his letters are full of prayers and inspired by prayer. He used to pray for the churches and for believers and for saints and God’s people with fasting prayer. Apostle Paul was a great missionary, philosopher and the great church founder. It was all because of his prayer life. He was a great man of prayer.
John Knox, he saved Scotland through prayer. John Knox is known for his prayer, “Give me Scotland, or I die.”
Martin Luther was also very popular for his prayer life. Prayer was very valuable for his life. He says, “To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.” Luther was a powerful man in prayer.

Conclusion:-
All was an ordinary human like us. In the book of James 5:17, “Elijah was a person just like us.” If all these God’s people from different generation can live prayer life and could achieve God’s favor. Then today also we could achieve all God’s favor through prayer. In Hebrew 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” The same miracle-working God who works through those entire people in different generation is still doing those things today through the power of the Holy Spirit in the lives of person those who believes Him and live the prayer life. All those were an ordinary human but through their prayer life they become extraordinary human.
In Luke 18:1, “Jesus told his disciples a parable about their need to pray all the time and never give up.” Here, all the Christians need to pray all the time and never give up. Therefore, live a regular prayer life and become a man and woman of prayer.
“Pray in Holy Spirit.”-Jude 20
